According to the Associated Press, recently discovered documents reveal that R&B singer Usher Raymond and his wife Tameka Raymond have been separated for nearly a year despite filing for divorce on Friday, June 12.

The couple, who tied the knot in a simple wedding ceremony in August 2007, has been living separately since July 2008 states the divorce petition.

Following the filing of the divorce petition in Fulton County Superior Court, the couple will attend a hearing on July 15. The petition states that there is "no reasonable hope of reconciliation" for the couple.

Announced last week, Usher and Tameka’s split came amidst rampant speculation regarding the couple and their failing relationship.

Some reports had even stated that Usher’s mother was not pleased with the relationship. Shortly after these reports were released, Usher’s mother was fired as his manager although she was re-hired a year later.

Usher and Tameka have two children together; 18-month-old Usher Raymond V and 6-month-old Naviyd Ely Raymond. Tameka also has three other children from another relationship.

Although neither Tameka or Usher have commented publicly on the matter, Tameka’s lawyer, Randall Kessler, told People.com that they will respond to the divorce petition in a “timely manner” and they are “…hoping this case would be resolved privately, but since Usher filed it publicly we will have to respond."
