The Los Angeles stop of the "RockThe Bells" tour was the sitewhere the beef between Joe Budden and members of the Wu-Tang clanunfortunately turned physical. The drama that has been brewing ever since Budden posted a blogcommenting onMethodMan's placingon a top rapper's listin Vibe magazine took a turn for the worse weekend when members of Raekwon’s entourage attacked Joe Budden backstage before he took the stage to perform as a member of his Slaughterhouse rap group.
According to several reports, Raekwon (who was also there to perform) and five other members of his entourage approached Budden in his dressing room backstage where he had been video bloggin' live, and the pair had a conversation. Without warning, a member of Raekwon’s crew punched Budden in the eye. The altercation apparently didn’t last long, but it’s unclear how the fight was broken up.
Budden recorded a video blog shortly after the incident confirming the altercation. The “Pump It Up” rapper also admitted to offering an apology to the Wu-Tang Clan, saying that he was coercedsince he was outnumbered, and the apology was “the smart thing to do.”
Mickey Factz corroborated Budden’s story of being outnumbered. “One of the six dudes did punch Joe, it was 6 vs. 2,” Factz stated.
“Without me, it would’ve been 6 vs. 1. I think it was a sucker move. It looked like Joe barely felt it. [But] **** is crazy. Raekwon has the footage...Joe didn’t swing back, and no they didn’t laugh after the punch. Joe and Rae were going back and forth talking like men. How you going to have your man punch him and now you want to talk? And then you have the camera on? C’mon Rae.”
A number of online reports stated that Wu-Tang and Slaughterhouse members confronted each other at the venue not too long after the incident to try to ease tensions between the two rappers.
