After three albums and several hits, R&B singer Lloyd has announced that he’s parting ways with The Inc., the company that launched his career.

Lloyd’s departure marks the second exit in recent months for the house that Irv Gotti built. Singer Ashanti was released from the label last month after her last effort failed to live up to expectations.

Lloyd, who burst onto the scene in 2004 with “Southside,” says he did not fall out with his former recording home, but that the time has come for new horizons in the business.

"I'm ready for a change,” the 23-year-old singer says. “There's no bad blood. I just feel I need to take more control over my career and get a fresh start. Hopefully Irv can understand my position."

The break with The Inc. does not signal an extended vacation. Lloyd is also hard at work on a mixtape and an untitled fourth album. While the singer is eyeing some big names in the industry, look for future collaborations with the man that originally made him a star.

“We have plans to get in the studio with Jim Jonsin, The Runners, Cool & Dre, Rodney Jerkins and others,” he says. “In the future, I still hope to work with Irv as a producer as well.”

Lloyd’s most recent release, 2008’s “Lessons In Love,” featured the hit single “Girls Around The World” with Lil Wayne. A free mixtape to accompany the album, “Lessons In Love 2.0” is available on Lloyd’s MySpace page at www.myspace.com/lloyd.

All things must come to an end, I did not realize Ashanti had also left Inc. I think when Irv does right by his family and gets his life together things will begin to prosper again. God giveth and he can taketh away too. These folks are artist and deserve a fair chance to make money and provide for thier families. Let go Irv and let God. This is a time to make a shift in your life and keep it real your family needs you and you need them.

IRV HAS TO UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLE CANT WAIT FOR HIM TO BE AT WORK AND NOT WORRYING ABOUT HIS PERSONAL LIFE. LLOYD MADE IT CLEAR THAT FAMILY IS IMPORTANT BUT HIS MUSIC IS HOW HE PROVIDES FOR HIS FAMILY. WHEN YOU ARE WAITING YOU ARE SPENDING MONEY ON DEAD STUDIO TIME!!

the inc really lost it's pretige when they started dissing other artist's..loyd made a good move wanting to do his own thing, nothing wrong with that..irv seems lost anyway trying to salvage his failed marriage..which is pretty much over but his ex won't let it go..ja rule hasn't put out anything real for awhile now..good luck loyd!!

Lloyd has come along way the inc has too much on his plate as it is he needs to focus more on his family and focus less on success for awhile if he really loves lloyd he will support him on his new venture to further his career.

This a good decision on Lloyd's part. The Inc. just disappeared off the face of the earth in the early 2000s. It's nice to know that Lloyd will have a better chance of getting out there cuz he has the talent.

Good for Lloyd. His album should have done way better. I LOVE "Players Prayer", I was hoping he would do a video for Players Prayer or see him in a major concert, NOTHING. I hope Ashanti have better success as well. Good Luck Lloyd.
