If Bow Wow's banter serves true, this may be his greatest piece of work since entering hip hop at the tender age of 6.
"New Jack City Pt.2", Bow's sixth solo offering, which sports a star studded line up, differs from his previous bodies of work offering an introspective glance inside the youngster's mental. And with the first single, "Roc The Mic" broadcasting the brother-to-brother/father-son like bond between him and Jermaine Dupri, Bow's looking to open up to his core demographic.
Aside, Bow realizes this album is the most crucial of his career. Regardless of where it may chart, New Jack City Pt.2 is being looked at as a switching lanes project. Bow toldBET.com backstage from 106 & Park last week, "For me, I always say this album is like the hurdle album. This is the album that I want to take me to the next level and prepare me for the future. It’s different material and better material on this project."
Without saying, Bow's sights are set on improving tremendouslyfrom his last effort, "Wanted". And though it may seem as a difficult task to top two top 5 singles, with JD by his side, he's ready to work, "Every time I do an album, I’m always competing with myself, so me and Jermaine went in the studio and just said, ‘yo, we have to smash what we did on the last project’", he explained.
Bow continued, "Coming off of “Shorty Like Mine” and “Like A Flirt”, two top five records, we just went and tried to make the best material possible."
Leaving self doubt in the wind, Bow's already put the "best album to date" stamp of approval all over his newest project. And since he's in love with the craft, proving anything to anyone was a mere thought that didn't even circle his brain twice. Bow revealed, "With this album, I really don’t have nothing to prove, it’s all about going into the studio and doing what I love to do and I feel like this is the best material to date that me and JD have ever put down. I’ll let the people decide that, but that’s just my opinion."
New Jack City Pt.2 features guest appearances from Jermaine Dupri, Johnta Austin, Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Swizz Beatz, Ron Browz and more.
